Your privacy

Cookie policy

Every cookie and browser record this site keeps, in plain English — what it does, how long it lasts, and how to change your mind.

Nothing is counted until you say so

A bar at the bottom of the screen asks you once. Until you answer, no analytics script is downloaded and no analytics cookie is written.

One tool, no advertising

We use Google Analytics to see which pages are useful. No advertising cookies, no remarketing, no social media trackers, no marketing emails.

Your answer stays on your device

Your Accept or Decline choice is saved in your own browser. We are not sent it, and we can't see who chose what.

What we keep in your browser

Five things, and no more. Nothing here holds a name, a phone number, an email address or anything you tell a therapist.

ct-cookie-consent

Browser storage (localStorage)

What it does
Remembers whether you tapped Accept or Decline, so the banner never asks you twice.
How long it lasts
Until you clear it (see below).
When it appears
Created the moment you make a choice.

ct-therapist-order

Browser storage (sessionStorage)

What it does
Holds the display order of the five therapists' names, so the cards don't reshuffle as you move between the home, therapists and About pages.
How long it lasts
Until you close the browser tab.
When it appears
Created when a page finishes loading. It holds names and order only — nothing about you.

_ga and _ga_8S6R5DJDXL

Cookies set by Google Analytics

What it does
Tell us a page was read, and roughly how many people read it, without identifying anyone.
How long it lasts
Google's standard lifetimes — about 13 months for the main one, refreshed when you visit.
When it appears
Only after you tap Accept. Decline, and they are never created.

Google Maps cookies

Cookies set by Google

What it does
Load and display the map of the practice.
How long it lasts
Google's standard lifetimes.
When it appears
Only on the Contact page, and only once the map scrolls into view.

Sign-in record

Browser storage

What it does
Keeps a therapist signed in to the private messages area so they don't have to retype their password on every page.
How long it lasts
Until they sign out.
When it appears
Only for therapists who sign in at /auth. Visitors never get this.

The consent banner, in full

The first time you open corktherapies.ie, a bar appears at the bottom of the screen with two buttons: Decline and Accept. There is no third option and no pre-ticked box.

Whichever you pick is written to your browser under the name ct-cookie-consent as either accepted or declined. The bar then disappears and does not come back on that device.

If you accept, the Google Analytics script is downloaded and your analytics cookies are created. If you decline, nothing is downloaded and nothing is counted — and every page, button and message form works exactly the same.

Google Analytics, in full

We run Google Analytics 4 on this site under the measurement ID G-8S6R5DJDXL. It is only loaded after you accept.

It tells us:

  • which pages were read, and in roughly what order;
  • how people arrived (for example a Google search, a shared link, or typing the address directly);
  • the type of device and browser, so we know whether to design for phones first;
  • the country the visit came from, which Google works out from the connection;
  • whether someone clicked a button that leaves our site.

It does not tell us your name, your phone number, your email address, or anything you type into a message box. We have not switched on advertising features, Google Signals, or any setting that links a visit to a Google account.

Google's own privacy policy covers how they handle this data: Google's privacy centre.

The selfcare.ie buttons

Several buttons send people to selfcare.ie, the trauma and EMDR clinic run by Tom Evans. Each of those links carries a small campaign tag in the web address — for example utm_source=corktherapies.ie — so selfcare.ie can see the visit came from us and which button it came from.

If you have accepted analytics, clicking one of those buttons also records an "outbound click" in our own analytics, so we know the referral buttons are being used. The tag travels with the link; it is not stored on this site.

The map on the Contact page

The Contact page shows a Google map of the practice at Unit 4 Watersedge. The map only loads when it scrolls into view, and when it does Google may set its own cookies for that page. That happens on the Contact page only, and it is outside our control.

Messages you send us

When you use a message form, your message and the email address you give are delivered to the therapist you chose through a third-party delivery service called Web3Forms, and a copy is kept in this site's own private database so it can be recovered if a delivery fails.

That is a message record, not a cookie: it is not used for analytics, and it is not shared with Google or anyone else. The stored messages area can only be opened by the practice team after signing in.

Change your mind at any time

Your choice is not permanent. The quickest way to make the banner appear again is the button below — it clears your saved answer on this device and reloads the page.

Or clear this site's data in your browser settings — that removes every record listed above.

You can also set your browser to block or delete cookies, or to ask before storing anything. Doing that for corktherapies.ie will bring the banner back and may stop the therapist card order being kept steady while you browse.

Who is responsible, and how to reach us

corktherapies.ie is run by Cork Therapies — five qualified counsellors and psychotherapists who each work separately from Unit 4 Watersedge, Riverside Way, Midleton, Co. Cork. The therapist you contact is responsible for the messages you send them.

Questions about this page, about what we hold, or a request to remove something are all welcome. The easiest route is our Contact page, where you can pick the therapist to write to, or phone any of us directly.

How often this page changes

We checked this page against the site's actual behaviour on 14 October 2026. If we ever add a tool that needs your permission, the banner will ask you again before it runs, and this page will be updated to name it.
